Bob Wirz brings an extraordinary depth of experience to our club. As President and Founder of Wirz & Associates, he has built a distinguished career in sports marketing, media, public relations, and professional sports administration.
Bob served as the chief spokesman for Major League Baseball Commissioners Bowie Kuhn and Peter Ueberroth for 10 years before launching Wirz & Associates in 1985. Prior to that, he spent six years as the publicity and public relations director for the Kansas City Royals and developed a strong foundation in journalism through work in newspaper, radio, and television.
A Nebraska native, Bob worked with The Lincoln Journal, The Wichita Eagle, and The Denver Post before entering professional baseball as Public Relations Director of the Denver Bears (Pacific Coast League) in 1967–68. He later served the Kansas City Royals from 1969–74 and went on to become Major League Baseball’s Director of Information from 1974–85.
Bob is a graduate of the University of Nebraska. He and his wife, Maybeth, reside in Stratford, Connecticut, and are the proud parents of four children and grandparents of five.
