Join us on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, as we welcome Whitney Beaman and Craig Johnson from the Wilton Land Trust as our featured Guest Speakers. They will share updates on the Land Trust’s conservation initiatives, community programs, and their vision for preserving Wilton’s natural spaces for future generations. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the essential work being done to protect open space, wildlife habitats, and community access to nature right here in Wilton.
Whitney BeamanExecutive DirectorCraig E. Johnson President
Whitney is thrilled to bring her passion for sustainable land care, environmental stewardship, and community engagement to her role as Executive Director of the Wilton Land Trust. With nearly a decade of leadership experience, she has championed ecological education and sustainability initiatives at nonprofits dedicated to organic agriculture and nature-based landscaping, including the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York (NOFA-NY), New York Wine & Grape Foundation, and Perfect Earth Project.
Whitney holds a Master of Science in Sustainability Management from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science with Research Honors in Food Science and Viticulture and Enology from Cornell University. Committed to lifelong learning, she has also earned certificates in Medicinal Plants, Soil Health, and Leadership Fundamentals from Cornell.
Most days, Whitney can be found in the office in the Offutt Barn at Chestnut Meadows. Feel free to drop by to say hello, wander this unique upland meadow, and visit the American Chestnut Tree orchard.
When she’s not at work, Whitney can often be found camping or hiking with her two Labrador retrievers, skiing the slopes of Vermont, tending her home garden, cooking elaborate meals, or crafting herbal remedies in her kitchen. Her deep love for conservation and the natural world fuels her commitment to preserving Wilton’s landscapes for future generations.
Craig E. Johnson: President
Craig Johnson became the President of the Wilton Land Trust in early 2025 after serving as its Vice President for a number of years. He has been a trustee of the WLT since 2005. Mr. Johnson has served on several local organizations.
Currently, he is a Board member for the New Beginnings Family Academy, a charter school in Bridgeport, CT that helps students develop essential social and emotional life skills. He has also served as the President of the Norwalk River Rowing Association and the Wilton Riding Club.
Mr. Johnson is a 30-year resident of Wilton, raising three sons in town. He lives on Nod Hill Road with his wife, Kimberely Young and Henry their Doodle.
