Join us as we welcome James Bias, Executive Director of the Connecticut Humane Society, for a presentation on the new Pet Resource Center in Wilton.

With more than four decades of experience in animal welfare, James has led organizations across the country including the SPCA of Texas and the Humane Society of North Texas, overseeing shelters, clinics, and community outreach programs. His leadership has helped expand lifesaving initiatives in sheltering, veterinary medicine, and pet retention services.

James will share how CHS’s Pet Resource Center is supporting pets and families in our local community and advancing the mission of keeping animals healthy, safe, and loved.

James Bias, CAWA
Executive Director, Connecticut Humane Society

James Bias brings more than four decades of experience in animal welfare to his role as Executive Director of the Connecticut Humane Society. Before joining CHS, he served as President and CEO of the SPCA of Texas, where he oversaw two shelters, three animal hospitals, and two mobile units, along with extensive public spay/neuter and wellness initiatives.

His career has also included leadership positions with the Humane Society SPCA of Bexar County in San Antonio, the Humane Society of North Texas in Fort Worth, and the City of Albuquerque’s Animal Services Division. Throughout his tenure, James has managed multi-site shelters and clinics, led successful capital campaigns, championed legislative initiatives, and expanded programs in sheltering, medicine, outreach, and education.

Dedicated to keeping pets with the families who love them, James continues to advance CHS’s mission of compassion and community impact. He shares his home with two dogs, five cats, and several backyard chickens—and enjoys woodworking and hiking in his spare time.
