Robin Spath, PhD
President, SPED*NET

Robin Spath is dedicated to educating and supporting parents of children with special needs, with a focus on girls on the spectrum who are often undiagnosed until adolescence or later. With a background as a social work educator, researcher, and practitioner, she brings expertise in child welfare, family violence, and nonprofit administration.

She holds a PhD in Social Policy and an MA in Women’s Studies from Brandeis University, along with an MSW from the University of Connecticut. Formerly an Associate Professor at UConn’s School of Social Work, Robin has also contributed to nonprofit child welfare efforts in Cambodia.

An experienced grant writer and researcher, she has published widely and presented nationally and internationally. She has served on the U.S. Council on the Role and Status of Women and other advisory committees.

Robin lives in Weston with her husband, two children, and a menagerie of pets.


Eve Kessler, Esq.
Treasurer & Co-founder, SPED*NET

Eve Kessler’s passion for special education advocacy began with her own sons and grew into a second career. Co-founding SPED*NET and publishing Bringing Knowledge to the Table are among her proudest achievements.

A graduate of CT’s Partners in Policymaking, she served as Vice Chair and Chair of the CT Council on Developmental Disabilities and led statewide special education training initiatives. She also contributed to the CT State Department of Education’s efforts to improve services for children with special needs. In 2007, she received the WE BELONG! Award for her dedication to inclusion.

Eve is a Contributing Editor for SmartKIDS With Learning Disabilities and serves on CHADD’s Public Policy Committee, advocating for ADHD-related issues. A Cornell Law graduate, she worked as a staff attorney for The Legal Aid Society until her retirement.
