Adopting New Best Practices to Grow Healthier Public and Private Gardens”

Date: Wednesday – May 22nd, 2024

Time: 12:15pm to 1:30pm

Jackie Algon moved to Wilton from New Jersey where she had worked for Merck & Co., Inc. for 36 years.  After retiring, and then ‘unretiring’ for a decade of consulting, she became an Advanced Master Gardener, coordinated the Master Gardener Program in Bethel for two years, served a decade on the Wilton Conservation Commission – the last years as its Chair, Co-Chaired the Conservation Committee of Wilton Garden Club for six years, and was a founding member of the Pollinator Pathway (PP).  The PP is a not-for-profit organization that began as grassroots in 2017 in Wilton and now is a 501(c)(3) with more than 350 towns actively working to educate and replant our public and private properties to provide a healthy environment for our wildlife, ourselves and our planet.  Having studied Zoology/pre-Med for her BS, and English as a Second Language as her MA, Jackie completed her PhD in Information Science at Rutgers University before becoming enthralled with our beautiful community where she and her partner, Carl Andersen, rebuilt Carl’s home on Linden Tree Rd in 2007, and where the concept of the Pollinator Pathway was hatched in their dining room by the PP founding members!
